Legacy Clients Part 3: The wedding gift that keeps on giving.

Event planners are fortunate when they can use their gifts and talents to serve one family for multiple events and even generations. I refer to those clients as “legacies.” Decades ago, it was a standard practice for families to use the services of the same caterers, planners, florists, and more for generations. It promoted loyalty and sustainability within communities and for the businesses. Black communities thrived on that practice.

The clients of Legacy 1 and Legacy 2 blog posts were my wedding planning clients, which is how I met their maid of honor to plan the bridal shower.

For their wedding, I created their own airline.  The theme was travel since the couple likes to travel and they have been several places all over the world.  When guests checked in they got a boarding pass that told them their table number.

The table names were destinations the couple has traveled to together in the U.S.   All staff was adorned with the customized logo on black shirts.  One of the favors were first class travel bags (that were on guests’ chairs that included:

  • A logoed writing pen
  • A custom personalized note for each person
  • A personalized notepad with each guests name on it
  • lip balm
  • travel tissue
  • eye mask
  • logoed mints
  • logoed hand sanitizer spray

When they left, guests were given a custom cookie with a logo-branded bottle of water.
